Raising The Bar.

I have found a way to channel my growing admiration for all things related to the 20's, 30's, & 40's eras. Strolling through the aisles at Spec's there are always so many beautiful bottles with lovely labels that tempt me to try them. However, cocktail connoisseur I am not. Thus, I am left to wonder what classy concoctions these ingredients belong to. Additionally, in the recent past I have been pining for a beautiful set of bar tools & glasses to compliment a fully stocked bar to be prepared in the event that I find myself entertaining guests with refined palates (i.e. Blair Waldorf or Barney Stinson).
Thus, Prohibition Night was born!

Each Thursday we choose a classic cocktail to conquer. After perusing the aisles of Spec's in search of superb spirits (& garnishes), then it's off to Goodwill to hunt for an assortment of appropriate glassware for the evening. Once the supplies are gathered it's home to dress up in our fanciest, jam the jazz & start the mixing, shaking, measuring, zesting & muddling. The goal is simple: to keep trying until we perfect the drink or think that we have perfected the drink (whichever comes first). While sipping our creation we take the opportunity to learn the history of this week's selection.
From the Sazerac (originated in New Orleans) to the Negroni (compliments of Count Camillo Negroni) to the Sidecar (thanks Sam "Suck it" Treadway) each week offers a new flavor of history and excitement.

Soon, we'll have developed an arsenol of aperitifs to offer upon your next visit. Until then, feel free to throw on a hot little number or a skinny tie, and stop by for any one of our practice drinks.
Just be certain to use the special knock.
