weddings, weddings, weddings!

i have officially entered into that phase of my life. you know the one, the phase in which your weekends are peppered with fancily scripted programs, pachelbel's canon in d, champagne toasts, and flying bouquets. i must admit, i am enjoying myself thus far. what's not to love about weddings? you witness friends taking tearful vows, girls wearing beautifully detailed dresses & arrangements of wonderfully fragrant flowers...followed by a reception with dinner, dancing, and most importantly--wedding cake!

here's to you, roy & heidi. i wish you a lifetime of happiness (and a sun-filled honeymoon with each other & your butler!)

guess what i did tonight...



i did not win the $550.00 'coverall' game, but i did come dangerously close to winning during the 'kite' round (a smaller sum, but the glory remains). however, i still feel as if i won: $6.00 pitchers & 75cent giant pickles...what a deal!
better luck next week, i suppose.

blooms in june.

pretty peonies!



the peonies are in bloom, and as they say: we are in the thick of it!
summer is here, and in texas that translates to hot, humid & sunny.

for me the heat poses the following limitations & opportunities...

it is too hot for:

• a run beginning any time after 5:30 am
• showers that reach a temperature higher than 70F
• cardigans, yes even the featherweight variety! (though i, and i suspect others, will continue to defy this restriction)
• leather seats in a vehicle
• soup, unless it is tortilla soup from los cucos, in which case...it is always acceptable to consume

it is not too hot for:

• reading a book, poolside with a bowl of cherries
  
• purchasing a new pair of sunglasses
• afternoon naps
• margaritas and/or shiner bock at a backyard bbq
• weddings (apparently, as i will be attending 2 in the next 3 weeks!)

sweet summertime snack!

these delicious cherries are such a wonderfully refreshing afternoon snack in the summer months! pricey though they may be, they are an irresistible treat! i enjoy the tangy/sweet taste of the ruby red ones...they are my favorite.

i played tennis today with a few friends, and allison & i ("team humans") crushed sujohn & chris. however, i walked away with a sizable bruise on my shin (self-inflicted by way of racket, accidentally, of course). we ended the day laughing at 'the office' reruns. what a wonderful wednesday.
