may i suggest...

if you were born anytime between 1982-1986 do yourself a favor, and take a walk (or, if you devour books like me, a run) down memory lane. this collection of essays name-drops tiny treasures from our past throughout crosley's comically dark recountings.

enjoy. it goes well with a pack of pop-rocks & a cherry clearly canadian!

trip out!

a couple of months ago we (our tuesday night happy hour crew) found ourselves questioning the existence/effects of the miracle berry. apparently there is a berry that holds the power to alter your taste buds. lemons taste like candy, guinness taste like chocolate milk, goat cheese is stripped of its kick....could it be?

well, a few friends & i took it upon ourselves to find out.

we signed up for the taste tripping party to be held at st. arnold's brewery...unlimited beer? a buffet of treats? 275 of our closest city-mates? count me in! sadly, it was re-located to the social (a bar off of washington, it's nice--but it's no brewery!)

upon arrival we were greeted with a wristband, a berry inside a tiny ziplock, and directions on the proper "tripping" method. so we piled our plates with as many goodies as possible from the buffet. brie, hummus, sour patch kids, limes, pommegranate, cheese galore, cherry tomatoes, and more! after we held the berry in our mouth (with occasional swishing) for two minutes--we gave the berry 10-15 minutes to settle, and then we jumped in!

it was really weird to eat a lemon without wincing....to drink guinness as though it were liquid candy (though, i preferred st. arnold's christmas brew)....and to pop sour patch kids into my mouth like it was, well, candy. i am very sensitive when it comes to sour flavors, and it was fun to finally see what all the fuss was about. i'd recommend this experience to anyone looking for a fun friday night. who wouldn't want to trip out with good friends, good food, good beer & good music?

hip, hip, hooray!

congratulations, mr. president!

it's hard to believe that most of us (around my age) have only experienced a bush or clinton in the white house. i'm excited to see what happens next.

oh, and people are ridiculous with their hateful/ignorant facebook status' (what's the plural of status anyway?). i'm sure it would have been the same had the election gone the other way, but it's really disheartening.

suck it up, people.

in other news: the red cups are back at starbucks! i can feel the holidays coming...
