remember the song, "99 red balloons"? certainly there were 100 to start with. who would buy a bunch of balloons numbered at 99? after a long, grueling search, i found the missing 100th. it was hanging out in trafalgar square all along!

ike's reign.

what are we doing? i mean, what...in god's name...are we doing?

houston is now a panic-stricken, chaos-fest! honestly, it's a bit ridiculous. however, i would like to say thank you to everyone for entertaining each other during this time of "certain death" as the newscaster announced.

i have been brainstorming potential ike-related blog entries. nothing really stood out as blog worthy, until i logged onto facebook. it was here, our trusty go-to boredom reliever, that i found the material for this entry.

so many people were so affected by the terror, excitement, annoyance, and drama of ike that they were moved to change their facebook status in order to reflect their innermost feelings towards this unwelcome visitor.

some were merely informational:
...at Fort Worth with fam living the life of an evacuee. Good stuff.
...is Ike, I'm your huckleberry.
...drove from the Galleria to Tomball in 20 min. Thank you free EZ Tag!!!!
...hunkers down.
...is running from the hurricane... literally guys she had to evacuate.
...is hunkering down!

others declared their anger (note the effective use of the exclamation point):
...Here we go !! Flight cancelled.. Fuck you ike.
...is not evacuating. f that!
...hates new facebook almost as much as ike. leave jamaica beach and htown alone!!!
...is not a fan of ike.
...is pissed about the hurricane!
...isn't amused by how crazy Houston gets when a hurricane is on the way...
...is screw you ike...

while others, still, took it upon themselves to face ike as a their own personal challenger. apparently, they are ready to battle it out with ike, for better or for worse.
...is ready to face "certain death" - haha!!
...is wishing he were in H-Town to face Ike with everyone else.
...is bring it on IKE!!!
...is heading into houston. bring it on ike.
...is going to meet IKE with a glass of Whiskey in hand.
...is wearing her lucky underpants...bring it ike!

lastly, some have accepted defeat. some have formed their own varying opinions and thoughts, peppered with humor. others are simply trying to survive. and one lonely facebooker chose to take this time to praise ike.
...is jumping on the bandwagon filled with Ike references. I'm riding this one out, against my better judgement.
...is yikes to ike.
...loves how he's scared of Hurricane Ike only because the weather channel makes it look like a Huge Fire Ball.
...is trying not to die in the hurricane!
...says IKE IS COMING!!
...is gonna get beat by Ike : (.
...OMGAWDS A HURRICANE!!!
...hopes that the tina turner concert is canceled due to Hurricane Ike...Hurrrr-uh-cane Holiday!!! Show 'em!
...is proud of Ike... he's a very pretty well formed storm.. I LIKE IKE.

i can only imagine what will be written as ike approaches, during the storm, and the aftermath.

here's hoping it's another blogworthy wave of statuses. thank goodness we know everyone's current status.

i love my room. honestly, i do. but it just wasn't my cozy, little cove until i completed my book nook.

finally, my books made the trip from sour lake to houston. my bookshelf made the trip from the store to my house. and all is well in the world.

next mission: to find personal library software. must organize. let me know if you know of any cool dewey-decimal-esque sites!

seriously. mother nature is one bad mother f-er.

this photo was taken in dallas on my road tripette with christopher. i've decided that i really love plants with naturally juxtaposed contrasting colors. i've been noticing them more & more lately. the deep eggplant vs. the illuminated green; it's wonderful!



oh, and whitney--i never knew that we were featured in a magazine together?! it's nice to be close to someone i know.
